Fight #PostFactual America

Those who control the narrative, control the agenda. This one simple thing can make a big difference.

Here's what to do. In your email signature and at the bottom of your posts add "Fight #PostFactual America" to let everyone know that you stand for truth, reason, and civil discourse in all your correspondence. Fight the good fight against willful ignorance and bigotry. Any message worth saying is worth repeating. Join the dialog at

Sustainable Pragmatic Party

From Facebook discussion.

Could there ever be a Sustainable Pragmatic party? If so, would they develop visionary principles? :) First plank in our platform, "Don't soil your own nest" Second plank, "Leave the world a better place then when you got there, by trying to leave no trace". Third plank, "Caring  for the next generation means using resources in a sustainable manner and educating from an inclusive, open, rational and explicitly scientific viewpoint so that sustainability is foremost in the minds of every citizen."

This is, I'm sure, far too commonsensical.

Plank four will address uncertainty, complexity and unintended consequences.

Who wants in? Could this be a viable philosophical approach to a healthy and relevant third party?

The Democracy Test

If we are serious about democracy, educated citizens are required. If you are against an educated citizenry, you are against democracy. This simple test separates the fascists and demagogues from legitimate statesman, regardless of party affiliation or rhetoric. #demotest

How does your candidate do on the Democracy Test?

No one who is against education ever says straight out that they are against education. One might hint that "A university education might not be for everybody". This is true when applied to one or another individual, but demonstrably false when made into official policy. Don't get me started on the school voucher debacle.
